Our Hot Spot Gymnastics team traveled to Anaheim, California this weekend for their first competitive meet of the year in the Great Destinations-CA meet.
First up for our team were our Bronzies. The entire team is composed of first-year athletes, ready to compete and grow in skills and experience.
Their performance ended up with the First Place Championship Banner.
The highest AA for the entire session belonged to HSG Corinne Even with 9.5 on Vault (1st), 9.35 on Bars (1st), 9.4 on Beam (1st), 9.4 on Floor (1st), and 37.65 AA (1st). Checha Sierra captured 2nd AA in her age group including 9.45 Bars (2nd), 9.45 Beam (1st T), 9.45 on Floor (1st T), and 37.375 2nd AA (2nd). Kaliyah Bell scored 9.425 on Vault (1st), 9.175 on Bars (2nd), 9.275 on Beam (2nd), and 37.15 AA (2nd). Paisley Willman scored a 9.15 on Vault (2nd), 9.275 on Beam (2nd), and 36.7 AA (2nd). Emalee Martinez contributed a 9.325 on Vault (2nd). Mili Pascual won the Bars event in her age group with 9.225. Alessy Ayala took 3rd Place on Beam with 9.0 and 3rd AA with 36.225.
Our Silver team was up next, ready for their chance to collect medals. Their achievements resulted in a 2nd Place Banner for HSG.
Remy Garcia led the way with a gold medal with a 37.874 AA including 9.35 on Vault (3rd), 9.55 on Bars (1st T), 9.475 on Beam (2nd), 9.6 on Floor (1st T). Olivia Wahl took home gold on Bars (9.675), and silver on Floor (9.45), with 37.55 AA (2nd). Giada Nicholas had 9.375 on Vault (3rd), and 37.25 AA (3rd). Alex Holmes and Vylette Ontiveros, in their first-ever meet, were ready for the competition. Alex took Gold on Beam with 9.2 and 3rd on Floor with 9.425. Vylette soared on Bars to take home Gold with 9.675. Aleysa Mendoza contributed with 2nd on Floor (9.375). Gracelyn Jolley showed her talents on Bars taking home Gold (9.75), then taking Silver on Floor (9.525).
Our team competition concluded Saturday night, when our Gold Team contingent warmed up for their competition. They ended the session on stage hoisting the 2nd Place Banner.
Lucy Lewis showed off her talents with a 37.2 AA (2nd), including 9.325 on Vault (1st), and an amazing 9.75 on Bars (1st). Allison Amado took home Gold for AA in her division (36.70), including 9.0 on Vault (3rd) and 9.55 on Floor (1st). Nayla Gonzalez contributed a 9.25 on Vault (1st), 9.3 on Floor (3rd) with 36.425 AA (2nd). Delonie Baldenegro was ready to compete, scoring a 9.2 on Vault (1st), 9.350 on Bars (3rd), and 36.40 AA (2nd). Lily Stone added to her medal collection with a 9.05 on Vault (2nd), 9.475 on Bars (1st), and 9.375 on Floor (2nd). Alexia Christensen captured 3rd Place with her Floor routine (9.275). Tatum Ledezma took home Gold on Floor with a 9.4 routine.
Our four Optional gymnasts saw their first competitive action for 2025. In Level 7 competition, Rio Subia captured the Gold Medal on Beam with a 9.125 and Silver Medal on Floor with 9.6. Kyleigh Goolsby finished with a 9.35 on Floor in her age group. Our two Level 6 gymnasts completed their first-ever meet at that level. Addy Dickey recorded a 9.075 on Floor. Caitlin Goolsby took home Silver with a 9.225 on Floor in her age group.
Our team's next competition will be the Classic Rock meet, held at the Phoenix Convention Center, beginning January 31. This is one of the largest competitions in the US with over 2,000 gymnasts converging on Arizona to display their talents.
